RE: Natchez Trace worth the trip?

We have driven it twice and would do it again if we ever get back to that area.

RE: Central Ky to San Diego -- scenic routes?

A year ago, we enjoyed following US-160 from Missouri to its terminus in Arizona.

Winter is near

There was a dusting of snow on Pine Valley Mountain this morning. Although the leaves are still green in my yard, with snow on the mountain, winter is near.

RE: Diesel Suggestions on route?

There is a Shell station in Mexican Hat. There is also a large truck stop type fuel station at Gouldings. We usually fill up at White Mesa Travel Center just north of Bluff.

RE: Using camper oven

If you get a floor tile, bake it in the oven on high temp for at least an hour before baking any food. This should bake out any impurities in the stone which might leave an unpleasant taste.

RE: Badlands Trip

If you do minimal stays at each location, 4 days is enough. I would personally schedule at least 7 days in order to devote enough time to explore outdoor sites and museum visits.

RE: Bryce, then Kodachrome SP to North Rim Grand Canyon

Road turns to gravel a few miles south of Kodachrome SP. Not recommended for RV's other than truck campers. Depending on time of year, may be washed out by flash floods. Check with BLM before trying it in any vehicle.

RE: Dehydrator

My grandmother used to slice corn off the cob. Put into a pillow case, rinsed to get rid of residual laundry soap and hung on the clothes line next to the kitchen door. Every time anyone walked by, they would fluff it up a bit. After three days (depending of he weather) it was done. Best snacks I ever had.

Cabinet Gorge RV just over the border in Montana is one our favorite campgrounds. Located at the junction of 200 and 58.

RE: Santa Fe - Taos NM Campground

The elevation in Taos is 6,950 ft. We got snowed on in October two years ago while attending the Taos Balloon festival. Lasted one day and was gone. Pretty though.
The RV parks in Espanola are not nice at all.
Agree with DieselGem about Toas Rv Park or Sante Fe Skies. We usually stay at each three or four days at each to explore the areas around them.

RE: Albuquerque balloon festival

Old Town and the museum next to it. Park at the museum. The arboretum just down the road from old town. Ride up the tram to Sandia Crest. Drive up to Santa Fe on I-25 and return on the Turquois Trail (hwy 14).
